Louisiana police arrests 12 after gambling sting

The Louisiana Gaming Enforcement Division, a part of the State Police, has arrested 12 people and charged several of them with felony illegal gambling. The police operation follows after a year long investigation at illegal gambling organizations operating out of Rayne, LA.

According to the local news channel, KATC 3, one of the man arrested was a former Louisiana state trouper, now retired, and has been accused of money laundering and felony gambling. The reports suggest that the 12 people arrested are part of three separate illegal gambling operations, and not one. According to the police press release, the method which they used to collect the bets was by football parlay card which were distributed around the town. The investigation remains open as more people are expected to be arrested in connection with any of the three gambling rings.
