police arrests 12 after gambling sting
The Louisiana Gaming
Enforcement Division, a part of the State Police, has arrested
12 people and charged several of them with felony illegal
gambling. The police operation follows after a year long
investigation at illegal gambling organizations operating out of
Rayne, LA.According to
the local news channel, KATC 3, one of the man arrested was a
former Louisiana state trouper, now retired, and has been
accused of money laundering and felony gambling. The reports
suggest that the 12 people arrested are part of three separate
illegal gambling operations, and not one. According to the
police press release, the method which they used to collect the
bets was by football parlay card which were distributed around
the town. The investigation remains open as more people are
expected to be arrested in connection with any of the three
gambling rings.
