Italian government announced that it is ready to issue over 17,000 gambling licenses. Those licenses will cover betting stations, kiosks, casinos, online gambling companies - casinos, sports betting and poker. The licenses will be ready for delivery after January 1st next year, and come as the next step after legalizing web gambling in Italy.

Italy is among the first European countries which have already legalized online gambling, and many gambling companies are ready to apply for their licenses, among which - William Hill, Ladbrokes, Coral and many others. Many of those online gambling sites have lost a significant amount of revenues after the pulling out of the US market and they are eager to establish a bigger presence in the E.U. countries which legally allow online gambling.

Spain is expected to be the next country to announce when they will start issuing their online gambling licenses.
