Preakness Stakes - Street Sense and Hard Spun are
the favorite
The contenders for the 2007 Preakness Stakes
are out, and so are the odds on who will in the second leg of
the Triple Crown.
As
expected Street Sense and Hard Spun are the favorite for the
2007 race. No surprise when we looked at the betting odds of
Bodog Racebook. According to
the bookmaker, Street Sense is their top favorite with odds to
win the Preakness Stakes 5/4, followed by Hard Spun with odds
3/1.
If you have seen the way Street Sense ran at
the Churchill Downs for the Kentucky Derby, you know that there
is a great chance to see the horse winning this race, as well.
And if you missed the Kentucky Derby, all we have to say is that
Street Sense was at 19th position at the 1/4 mile, and won the
race by 2 1/4 lengths.
Following the favourites come the other two
contenders from the Derby, Curlin with odds to win the Preakness
Stakes of 7/2 and Circular Quay with betting odds of 5/1. Curlin
did a good job finishing 3rd in the Kentucky Derby after being
the bookmakers' favorite up until derby day. But he was no
shining star like Street Sense, which many believe has the
energy and the goods to win all three races of the Triple Crown.
Circular Quay has not shown much so far, and it would be a real
surprise if the horse wins the 2007 Preakness Stakes.
Other contenders in the 132nd Preakness Stakes
are King of the Roxy (odds 15/1), Xchanger (25/1), C P West
(25/1), and Flying First Class also with odds 25/1. The underdog
is Mint Slewlep with odds 40/1.
The 132nd Preakness Stakes of 2007 starts on
May 19th, post time 6:05 pm EST, at the Pimlico Race Course in
Maryland.
