Rory Sabbatini
wins the
Invitational at Colonial from Furyk
Rory Sabbatini won the Crowne Plaza
Invitational at Colonial with a 15-foot birdie putt.
The birdie gave him the lead, beating Jim
Furyk and Bernhard Langer, which he kept till the end. Jim Furyk
was the favorite to win the Colonial, with betting odds of 12/1
by the bookmaker Bodog.
The final round Sabbatini, Furyk and Langer
all finished tie 3-under 67s for total of 14 under. The playoff
was set on the 18th whole and all three landed on the green
after the drive. Furyk missed his putt, however, and Sabbatini
was good on his, then Langer missed his 8-foot putt. This was
the first ever three-men playoff at the Colonial. The last
three-men playoff at a PGA Tour was won by Tiger Woods at the
Buick Invitational in 2006.
This is the fourth PGA Tour win for Rory
Sabbatini in his career.
