North Shore casino
plan approved in Pittsburgh
Despite the opposition from the Steelers and
Carnegie Science Center, the plans for proposed casino in
Pittsburgh have been approved by the planning commission.
A
provision was included, which requires a comprehensive traffic
study to be completed by September. The Pittsburgh Steelers and
the Carnegie Science Center are concerned with the casino
traffic impact North Shore would have during game day and in
general. Steelers' president Art Rooney II was even considering
a lawsuit if the comprehensive traffic report was not conducted.
Steelers representative commented that they will discuss the
planning commission's decision, before they come out with a
public statement.
North Shore casino has another battle before
they win the war - Isle of Capri Casinos Inc. and Forest City
Enterprises Inc., losing companies for the casino license bid,
have filed an appeal. Ruling on the appeal is yet to come.
