Miami Dolphins'
Porter fined for casino brawl
Joey Porter pleaded no contest yesterday and
paid a $1,000 fine for punching Cincinnati Bengals offensive
lineman Levi Jones.
Porter
started an argument with Jones at a casino blackjack table at
the Palms Casino in Las Vegas, after a disagreement between the
two. The incident took place on March 18th at the casino's
valley parking, following the argument. Joey Porter did not
appear personally in court, rather his lawyer filed the plea on
misdemeanor battery charge on behalf of the football player.
Joey Porter is a three-time Pro Bowl
linebacker, who recently signed a 5-year contract worth $32
million. The new NFL rules states that any player convicted of
or admitting to a criminal violation is subject to discipline -
additional fine, suspension without pay and/or banishment from
the league.
