The casinos in Chicago are #3
in gambling revenue in the entire United States for fifth year
in a row.
The casinos in Las Vegas and Atlantic City are the only
surpassing the gambling revenues of the Windy City. over $2.5
billion were the revenues from the nine casinos in Illinois last
year, according to some analysts. This number, although small
compared to the $6.6 billion of Las Vegas, has beaten other
gambling cities, such as Detroit and New Orleans.
The lawmakers in Illinois are currently
considering four new casino licenses, one of which will be given
to a casino in Metro Chicago. This law, considering the gambling
revenue, would potentially start a race between Illinois and
Indiana to attract the gamblers from both states with more and
bigger casinos.
