2007 Wimbledon Men
seeds Roger Federer atop
Lleyton Hewitt was promoted
three placings to 16th by the Wimbledon seeding committee.
This
will delay potential clashes with Roger Federer or Rafael Nadal
until the fourth round. Hewitt's seeding protects him from
clashing with any of the other top 15 seeds until at least the
fourth round.
No surprises at the top seeding. Number
one is Roger Federer who will play for his fifth straight
victory on the All England Club. Second and third seedings
belong to Rafael Nadal and Andy Roddick.
The new Wimbledon seeding formula
includes not only adding 100% points earned by a player on grass
over the past 12 months but also 75% of the points in the 12
months before that. As a result, Nikolay Davydenko drops to
sixth in the seedings, but Novak Djokovic, and the Chilean
Fernando Gonzalez move above Davydenko to take fourth and fifth
spots.
Roger Federer remains the favorite of
the British bookmaker
Bet365 to win the 2007
Wimbledon with betting odds of 4/11. He is followed by Rafael
Nadal with odds 11/2 and Andy Roddick at 10/1. Novak Djokovic's
odds on winning the Wimbledon are 14/1 and so are the odds on
the 16th seeded Lleyton Hewitt.
