Thierry Henry
will trade Arsenal for Barcelona
The long time Thierry Henry
transfer rumours have been confirmed by Arsenal, the striker
goes to Barcelona.
The deal, which could be worth over
£16 million to Arsenal, is expected to be completed as soon as
Henry passes his medical on Monday. Barcelona posted on their
website that they expect the French player to sign the four-year
deal on Saturday.
For days Barcelona has been rumoured to
be the new club for the 29-year old footballer. According to the
Spanish club, all details surrounding the deal have been worked
out with the Gunners, before any final steps to attract Henry
were taken. According to Barca vice-president Ferran Soriano, a
good relationship between the European clubs is a must.
Thierry Henry also confirmed that he has chosen FC
Barcelona as his new team. Henry blames the departure of David
Dein and the uncertainty about manager Arsene Wenger's future
with Arsenal, as his main reasons to leave, after his lucrative
deal he signed with the Gunners just one year ago expires next
season. "Barcelona are a wonderful club steeped in tradition and
play beautiful football. I'm sure I will be very happy there,"
the club's all-time record goalscorer said.
