Venus Williams
advanced to the Wimbledon semi-finals
After a 6-3,6-4 win against
Svetlana Kuznetsova, Venus Williams reached her first Wimbledon
semifinal in two years.
The
former No.1 Venus Williams has slipped to the 31st position
since 2002. But the American tennis player wasn't ready to give
up on her fourth Wimbledon title just yet. Dominating in her
serve, Venus Williams was quick to take the match and impose her
own pace at the 2007 Wimbledon quarter final, beating Svetlana
Kuznetsova 6-3, 6-4.
After the match Venus Williams addressed
the reporters:
"I feel really confident. As long as I'm
healthy and have a chance to prepare, I definitely am going to
have a foot in the door at the very least. At the end I was able
to stay tough against a great opponent. I felt so motivated,
sure about my game."
At the semi-final match Venus Williams
will play Ana Ivanovic from Serbia, who defeated the Czech
Republic's Nicole Vaidisova.
