The co-anchor of the
"Good Morning America", Robin Roberts, has been diagnosed with
breast cancer.
Robin Roberts, co-anchor of the ABC's "Good Morning America",
made a stunning revelation on her show on Tuesday. Roberts, 46,
confessed to the viewers that she has been diagnosed with breast
cancer and will undergo a surgery as soon as Friday. According
to Roberts, there is no cancer history in her family. In a
heart-to-heart talk in front of the camera she said:
"I am so blessed that I found this in
the early stages and the prognosis is so promising that my
doctor expects me to be flying planes and hanging on to
submarines in the middle of the Atlantic and scaling the Mayan
pyramids in no time."
Robin Roberts has been the co-anchor of
"Good Morning America" along with Diane Sawyer since May of
2005, but she has contributed to the show since 1995 and was the
newsreader until she was named one of the anchors two years ago.
Her career started as a sportscaster in
Mississippi, then she moved to Tennessee and in 1988 she was a
sports anchor for the WAGA-TV in Atlanta, Georgia, as well as a
radio host for the popular Atlanta radio station "V-103". In
1990 Robin Roberts joined ESPN as a sportscaster and won three
Emmy Awards with the sports network.
