on the restricted list
The St. Louis Cardinals
infielder Scott Spiezio is on the restricted list due to
substance abuse.
The
Cardinals infielder Scott Spiezio, also famous for his red
goatee, has been put on the MLB restricted list due to a
substance abuse problem. According to the latest reports, Scott
Spiezio voluntarily came out to the club's medical staff about a
substance he has been taken without their knowledge, as he was
concerned about the possible problems which may occur if tested.
Dr. George Paletta, the St. Louis
Cardinals medical director, praised Spiezio: "It speaks
highly of Scott to come forward, admitting recognition of a
potential problem. This allows the organization to provide him
access to the appropriate resources for further evaluation and
treatment."
There is no information about which
substance Scott Spiezio has been taking. According to ABC,
Spiezio will voluntary enter a treatment program for a problem
that the team did not specify.
Meanwhile Rick Ankiel returned to the
Cardinals as an outfielder and was in the starting lineup
against San Diego. The Cardinals were listed with odds +137, the
Padres at -152 at the online bookmaker
Bodog Sports.
