Tiger Woods wins
the 2007 PGA Championship
After a bad start, Tiger
Woods proved he is the world number one for a reason, winning
his 13th major.
Great
Sunday for Tiger Woods as he went forward to win the PGA
Championship for a second consecutive year and fourth PGA
Championship title in his career. He started the first day of
the tournament tied for 27th place, but quickly recovered to
grab yet another victory on the golf course, finishing with a
total of 8-under par 272. An amazing Round 2 sealed the victory
when eight birdies and one bogey gave him seven under par, and
from then - it was child's play. Before the 2007 PGA
Championship, Tiger Woods was listed as the favorite to win with
odds 9/4 by Bodog Sports.
It seems that the biggest surprise was
not Woods winning the PGA, but that his wife Elin Woods and his
2-month-old daughter Sam Alexis were present at the competition.
"It's a feeling I've never had before.
Having Sam there and having Elin there, it feels a lot more
special. And it used to be my mom and dad. And now Elin, and now
we have our own daughter. So it's evolved, and this one feels so
much more special than the other majors," Woods said after the
victory.
Woody Austin and Ernie Els were
competition, but not enough to beat the Tiger. Austin finished
3-under in Round 4 with a total of 6-under par 274, two shots
away from Woods, and Ernie Els pushed the envelope for 4-under
par in the final round to give the South African golfer a total
of 5-under par 275.
Ernie Els summarized it best: "To come
back from six back against the world's No. 1 was always going to
be tough. But I gave it a shot."
