Minnesota Vikings betting odds
and NFL lines
It is still unclear if
the Minnesota Vikings will break the mediocre spell this NFL
season.
Mediocre
is the word best describing the football exhibited by the
Minnesota Vikings in the past few seasons. During the last five
NFL season the Vikings have always finished with between six and
nine wins - never more, never less. Head coach Brad Childress is
an offensive expert, but the quarterback situation of the team
remains shaky, with QB Brad Johnson gone to the Cowboys. RB
draft pick Adrian Peterson will likely carry most the load in
2007.
The defense is in good position,
finishing first overall in rush defense last season. But it is
highly unlikely that the run defense would be able to compensate
for all the weaknesses the Minnesota Vikings have exhibited
through the last NFL season. And with defensive coordinator Mike
Tomlin hired away from Pittsburgh, the biggest strength from
last year may be gone away.
In the Preseason, Minnesota took
advantage of four New York turnovers in the second week of
preseason action, returning two for touchdowns as the Vikings
hammered the Jets 37-20 at Giants Stadium. Drew Henson was
4-for-9 for 33 yards, and Adrian Peterson had eight carries for
70 yards and a major for the Vikings.
But event the betting odds on the Minnesota
Vikings are mediocre, at best. The win against the Jets did
little to improve the opinion of the oddsmakers towards the
Vikings and the online betting website
