New England
Patriots betting and odds
The New England Patriots in
good shape, again favorite to win the Super Bowl according to
the betting odds.
Last
NFL season the New England Patriots were the clear favorite to
win the Super Bowl, but a lost to Indianapolis Colts 38-34 in
the AFC Championship game put an end to those dreams. Despite
that, the sportsbooks remain optimistic for this year's
performance of the Patriots and the team is highly favorite to
win every competition.
Quarterback Tom Brady will have extra
help this season, with lots of attention towards the wide
receiver Randy Moss, who was acquired from the Oakland Raiders,
and another fresh wide receiver Donte Stallworth was added to
the New England Patriots. With Corey Dillon out of the picture,
the running back Laurence Maroney will be carrying most of the
load after a rookie year in 2006.
Defensively, the New England Patriots made some much
welcomed improvements, signing linebacker Adalius Thomas from
Baltimore Ravens as a free agent and adding the safety Brandon
Meriweather in the entry draft. Barring injuries, the New
England Patriots will be a Super Bowl frontrunner again this NFL
season. Tom Brady threw a pair of touchdown passes in Week 3 of
the preseason, leading the New England Patriots to a 24-7 win
over the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium. Brady was
17-for-22 for 167 yards and no interceptions, while Donte
Stallworth caught three passes for 45 yards for the Patriots.
