Carolina Panthers
vs. Dallas Cowboys point spread, odds
We are closing the Week 3 NFL point spread and betting
odds preview with the Monday night football game Carolina
Panthers vs. Dallas Cowboys. After a predominantly successful
Sunday for the football bettors, the Monday night football
matchup between the Carolina Panthers (0-2) and their visit to
the Dallas Cowboys (1-1) would give many the chance to make a
good Week3 even better. These two NFL franchises have not met
since late 2007, when the Cowboys went to North Carolina to take
home a 20-13 victory, but much more is riding on the game today.
The Panthers had high expectations for this season, but two
loses in the first two games are bound to put pressure on
Carolina to deliver against the Cowboys. Dallas meanwhile opened
this football season with a W, but was stopped by the Giants
last week 33-31 at home and even more is riding on the home game
tonight for the Cowboys.
Looking at the spreads and odds posted
by two of the most popular online sportsbooks, the Cowboys
should have a walk in the park tonight at Cowboys Stadium.
Starting with the spread and odds at the sports betting website
Bookmaker, we find the Cowboys
big favorite to deliver against the Panthers - Dallas is -375
odds-on favorite to win tonight, while the Panthers will pay out
large on +315 if they are able to break the losing streak on
Monday. At Bookmaker the Carolina Panthers vs. Dallas Cowboys
point spread is currently at -8.5 points chalk the 'Boys and
the total expected by the odds makers there is set at 48 points.
The spread and lines at another great sportsbook,
Bodog Sports, are even more
generous towards the Cowboys, who are -380 favorite and the
point spread is set at -9 points there chalk Dallas. The betting
trends on the Panthers and Cowboys before the Monday night
football game show that Carolina is 1-4 against the spread in
its last 5 games, but Dallas is 4-2 against the spread in its
last 6 games at home. Also keep in mind that the total has gone
OVER in 4 of Dallas' last 5 games when playing the Carolina
Panthers.
Injuries will plague both teams tonight
and will definitely affect the Monday night football game. For
the Cowboys cornerback Michael Hamlin and linebacker Jason
Williams are out of Week 3 with injuries. Meanwhile running back
Marion Barber remains questionable with thigh injury, but
quarterback Stephen McGee was upgraded to probable to back up QB
Tony Romo if need arise. The Panthers are in much worse shape
going to Dallas tonight. Linebacker Na'il Diggs is out of Week 3
football, while defensive end Everette Brown and safety Chris
Harris remain doubtful for the game against the Cowboys tonight.
That said, a long, long list of Carolina Panthers were upgraded
to just probable, among which we find running backs Mike Goodson
and Jonathan Stewart, wide receivers Muhsin Muhammad and Steve
Smith and a whole bunch of defensive players. Which of those
players will start on Monday remains John Fox' decision and that
of the medical staff.
