Point Spread:
Atlanta Falcons vs. New Orleans Saints
Yet another great NFL week for the sports betting folks
with the majority of the games going the bettor's way, the
Monday night football game between the Atlanta Falcons and the
New Orleans Saints set to close Week 8 football, we have the
latest point spread and betting odds on this matchup. When the
Atlanta Falcons (4-2) met with the New Orleans Saints (6-0) last
year the Saints got barely away with a 29-25 victory but
according to the point spread and odds posted by the online
sportsbooks, this year things are much different, indeed. And
even though both of these two NFL franchises are doing much
better in the 09-10 football season, we have some betting
numbers that may surprise some of you.
Starting with the lines and point spread
on the Falcons - Saints game as published by the famous online
sportsbook
Bookmaker, we find the New
Orleans as a heavy favorite to win their 7th in a row, while the
Falcons will come out at the Superdome as big underdog. At the
sports betting website the odds on the Saints to win the game
are currently at -605 and the line on the Falcons to deliver an
upset is posted at +480. The Atlanta Falcons vs. New Orleans
Satins point spread is currently at -12 points chalk the
Saints with the sportsbook expecting the total to be at 55.5
points. Clearly a gigantic point spread on this Monday night
football game, but as we have pointed out before - the current
football season is favoring the bettors in a big way, forcing
the sportsbooks to increase the point spreads on the underdogs
to attract more 2-sided action on the lines. And with the
Falcons Saints game it seems to be working - according to the
latest information we have, the majority of the bettors are
actually taking advantage of this and are betting with the
Atlanta Falcons to cover the big spread.
And no surprise, considering the betting
trends on these two football teams. The Atlanta Falcons are 4-2
against the spread in their last 6 games, even though Atlanta is
1-4 against the spread in its last 5 games when playing on the
road against the New Orleans Saints. Meanwhile New Orleans has
covered the spread five times in their last 5 games and the
total has gone OVER in 6 of New Orleans's last 7 games at home.
Injuries, however, could hinder the much anticipated upset by
the Falcons with a long list of questionable players. Some of
the Flacons; questionable for the Monday night football game
include running backs Jerious Norwood and Jason Snelling,
defensive end John Abraham, cornerback Christopher Owens, tackle
Sam Baker and defensive end Kroy Biermann. Meanwhile at the New
Orleans team only defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis is out for Week
8 and linebacker Scott Fujita remains questionable, with the
rest of the players on the Saints injury list being upgraded to
probable for the game against the Falcons tonight.
