Atlantic City
casinos prepare for smoking ban
The casinos in Atlantic City
are preparing for the smoking ban, some completely forbidding
smoking at the casino.
Many
of the Atlantic City casinos are preparing to comply with the
new smoking laws, while others are completely banning smoking in
their casinos. The City Council in Atlantic City had been set to
ban smoking in all the casinos earlier this year, but fear of
loosing revenues and jobs led to a compromise law - 75% of the
casino floor in Atlantic City should be non-smoking next year.
Physical barriers and adequate ventilation for the smoking areas
in the casinos are required under the new law.
Harrah's, Bally, Caesars, Tropicana
Casino and Resort, and Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino will comply
with the law by building separate smoking lounges, which means
that the current gaming floors of the casinos will be completely
smoke-free. Patrons willing to smoke at the casinos will have to
visit of of the separate gambling lounges. Resorts Atlantic City
and the Hilton Casino Resort will also build smoking lounges,
but in addition there will be one slots area and one table games
area at each casino for the smokers. The rest of the Atlantic
City casinos have not made their plans official yet.
