Michael Vick
attends PETA class, his lawyer goes to Virginia
The troubled Atlanta Falcons
quarterback Michael Vick attended an animal cruelty class on
Tuesday and his attorney made an appearance in Virginia court on
Wednesday.
On
Tuesday a spokesman for the People for the Ethical Treatment of
Animals (PETA) announced that Michael Vick has attended an
eight-hour long class in empathy and animal protection at the
organization's headquarters. According to PETA, Michael Vick was
quite attentive during the class taught by several PETA members
and seemed to be making an honest effort to benefit from it.
According to reports, Vick said that he wished he took the
course several years ago.
Michael Vick is scheduled to be
sentenced December 10th on a federal dogfighting conspiracy
conviction, while he remains indicted on state dogfighting
charges at Surry County, Virginia. Virginia Beach attorney Larry
Woodward appeared briefly in front of Virginia Court on
Wednesday to confirm that he will represent the Falcons
quarterback on the state charges of dogfighting - two state
felony counts, one for beating or killing or causing dogs to
fight other dogs and the other for engaging in or promoting
dogfighting. The max sentence is five years in prison on each
count. According to Woodward, the defense will be based on the
grounds he can't be convicted twice of the same crime. The next
court date is set for November 27th.
