Week 6 point
spread: Washington at Green Bay, Panthers vs. Cardinals
Two days left until the start
of football Week 6 and we will preview the odds and point spread
on the games Washington Redskins vs. Green Bay Packers and
Carolina Panthers vs. Arizona Cardinals.
We
start with the game between the Washington Redskins (3-1)
and the Green Bay Packers (4-1). Let's quickly look
at the betting odds on the matchup of these two NFC teams. For
the Sunday game the Green Bay Packers come out favorite with
odds to win the game at -190 at
Bookmaker. The Redskins are
underdog, but will pay out only +160 in the case of a victory.
The point spread on the Washington Redskins vs. Green Bay
Packers game is favoring the Packers -3 points, but the
payout is -125, which means that both bookie and bettors are
expecting a bigger win by Green Bay in Week 6. This football
game will be a true battle as two of the top NFC teams will bang
helmets - the Green Bay Packers have the leading offense and
defense in the NFC-North and the Washington Redskins have the
No.2 offense in the NFC-East, but No.1 defense in the NFC-East
and 3rd overall in the league.
Even after the home-loss against the
Bears last week, the Packers still employ the best quarterback
in the league. Brett Favre threw a couple of interceptions last
week and this Sunday will have to stand against the No3 defense
in the NFL, which won't tolerate any mistakes by the leading QB.
On the other side, experts will be watching Redskins young star
- the quarterback Jason Campbell. With 869 yards this season
Campbell will be a threat to the 17th NFL defense of Green Bay.
The last time Washington won against the Packers was in 1988,
but you will be surprised how many cappers are giving this game
to the Washington Redskins. Statistically, Washington is 0-5
against the spread in its last 5 games when playing Green Bay
and the Packers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games. The total has
gone UNDER in 4 of Washington's last 5 games when playing Green
Bay.
The football game between the
Carolina Panthers (3-2) and the Arizona Cardinals
(3-2) seems as a much easier bet. The Cardinals are listed with
odds -245 at
Bookmaker to win on Sunday and
the Panthers are underdog with betting odds of +205. The
point spread on the Carolina Panthers vs. Arizona Cardinals
is sitting at -4.5 points chalk the Cardinals and the total is
posted at 40 points. Another NFC battle, but the Cardinals have
the clear advantage with 10th offensive and 14th defensive
ranking in the league, compared to the Panthers' 23rd offense
and 25th defense in the NFL. After QB Matt Leinart's injury last
week, Arizona will employ the veteran Kurt Warner full time, who
does have better stats with 62% complete passes, compared to
Leinart with 54%.
The Panthers have offense problems as
well, QB David Carr suffered a back injury against the Saints
last week and remains questionable for Week 6 after missing
practice on Wednesday and Thursday. If Carr doesn't show
improvement until Sunday the Panthers will have to use the newly
signed Vinny Testaverde, who at the age of 43 would have to
battle the No.1 NFC-West defense. The Panthers also have the
option of using the rookie Matt Moore, who substituted briefly
for Carr last week. Betting trends show that Carolina is 5-0
against the spread in its last 5 games on the road and Arizona
is 4-1 ATS in its last 5 games at home. The total has gone UNDER
in 4 of Arizona's last 6 games when playing Carolina.
