Vincent "Don
Vito" Margera convicted of child sexual assault
Vincent Margera, also known as
"Don Vito" on the popular show "Viva La Bam", was convicted on
child sexual assault charges.
You
may know him as the crazy uncle "Don Vito" of pro skateboarder
Bam Margera on the MTV show "Viva La Bam", Vincent Margera was
convicted of two counts of sexual assault on a child on
Wednesday and acquitted of a third charge. Each of the charges
could land him up to 6 years in prison and if he doesn't comply
with the sex offender treatment he could spend the rest of his
life in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for December 20th.
Vincent "Don Vito" Margera was arrested at
the Colorado Mills Mall in Lakewood, Colorado and charged with
three felony counts of sexual assault on a child for groping a
14-year-old girl and two 12-year-old girls during an autograph
signing in 2006. According to his defense attorney, Pamela
Mackey, the same lawyer who defended Kobe Bryant, Vincent
Margera was just acting as "Don Vito", i.e. it was part of the
show. "You may find the behavior vulgar and disgusting, but
it was done to amuse, to entertain, to get a laugh," said
Mackey. The court didn't buy the defense of Vincent Margera, who
also faces 12 felony counts of violating his bail conditions.
Vincent "Don Vito" Margera is currently at the Jefferson County
Detention Facility awaiting sentencing.
