NFL point spread: Cowboys vs. Eagles, Chargers vs. Vikings

Our Week 9 NFL point spread and odds preview starts with the games Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles and San Diego Chargers vs. Minnesota Vikings.

NFL point spread: Cowboys vs. Eagles, Chargers vs. Vikings The NFL Week 9 will be a great weekend for bettors world wide and not just because of the Patriots - Colts game. On Sunday the Philadelphia Eagles (3-4) will welcome the Dallas Cowboys (6-1) in another great football match-up. The odds at the betting website Bookmaker are currently favoring the Cowboys to win at -200 and the Eagles are underdog with odds +170. The point spread on the Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles is posted at -3 points chalk the Cowboys and the total is 47 points. Dallas is 6-2 against the spread in its last 8 games and Philadelphia is 1-3-1 ATS in its last 5 games at home.

Who would've thought that by Week 9 the Eagles will be at the bottom of NFC East, behind the Giants and the Redskins? No one, but it's a fact and the home game against the Cowboys will be their best chance to get any kind of respect for the rest of the season. But it will be nearly impossible when they meet the 6th ranked defense of the 'Boys on Sunday. Dallas has been allowing only 295.5 yards per game all season and will employ their 402 yards per game offense, second best in the league. And let's not forget that many experts predict a Dallas - New England Super Bowl next year.

Cowboys wide receiver Terry Glenn is out for Week 9, but running back Oliver Hoyte did a full Wednesday practice and should be available. Eagles wide receivers Greg Lewis and Reggie Brown are also recovering with full Wednesday practice. Donovan McNabb with 1780 passing yards this season still believes that the Eagles are a major player, but he would have to prove it first and talk later. Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has piled up 1984 yards this season and just got a 6-year $67.5 million contract with Dallas and will be eager to prove that he is the third highest paid quarterback for a reason. Overall, the Cowboys should have no problem beating Philadelphia and covering the -3 point spread.

The Week 9 NFL game between the San Diego Chargers (4-3) and the Minnesota Vikings (2-5) should be much easier to decide. The Chargers are a big favorite at Bookmaker with odds -335 and the Vikings are listed with odds +285. The point spread for the San Diego Chargers vs. Minnesota Vikings is currently favoring the Chargers -7 points with total sitting at 41.5 points. Betting trends show that San Diego is 1-4 against the spread in its last 5 games on the road, but Minnesota is 1-4 against the spread in its last 5 games when playing San Diego.

The Chargers must win this game - they won't have many opportunities to take the lead from the Chiefs, the next two games will have the Chargers meet the Colts and the Panthers, thus the game against the struggling Vikings must be won at all cost. San Diego's quarterback Philip Rivers has a good connection with running back LaDainian Tomlinson, who rushed for 90 yards against the Texans last week, a game which the Chargers won 10-35. The San Diego Charges are not as good as they were last season, but will easily outplay the Vikings, who may be without a few key players this week.

QB Tarvaris Jackson had a limited Wednesday practice and Brooks Bollinger may start this week if Jackson is not 100% ready. Vikings wide receivers Troy Williamson and Bobby Wade missed practice yesterday, as well as DE Brian Robison. Limited Wednesday practice had DE Erasmus James, CB Antoine Winfield and safety Dwight Smith. Overall, the San Diego Chargers should have no problem beating the Minnesota Vikings, but they may not be able to cover the -7 point spread.
