Barry Bonds
indicted for lying under oath
Baseball star Barry Bonds have
been indicted for obstruction of justice and perjury for
allegedly lying to grand jury.
The
long-rumored indictment of Barry Bonds is now a fact and was
unsealed today (Thursday) in San Francisco. Bonds is being
charged with perjury and obstruction of justice for allegedly
lying to the grand jury in the BALCO case by testifying that he
unknowingly used steroids. The case was investigating top
athletes for use of the steroid known as "the clear". During his
testimony, Barry Bonds said that he had no idea he was given
steroids by his personal trainer Greg Anderson. He also denied
taking any performance-enhancing drugs during 2001, while he was
chasing the single season home-run record.
"I'm curious what evidence they have now
they didn't have before," a lawyer of Bonds was quoted
saying about the indictment, who was surprised to hear about the
new case against the baseball superstar.
