Biggest NFL point
spread: Philadelphia Eagles vs. New England Patriots
The Week 12 NFL football game
between the Philadelphia Eagles and the New England Patriots
offers the biggest point spread.
You
know the New England Patriots (10-0) are getting the
respect they deserve, when they are point spread favorite by
insane numbers against the Philadelphia Eagles (5-5) this
Sunday. At the online sportsbook
Bodog Sports, the point
spread on the Philadelphia Eagles vs. New England Patriots
game is currently sitting at -24.5 points - the biggest spread
for a game of pro football in years. If this happened towards
the beginning of the football season - people could get shocked,
but considering the numbers the Pats have been putting on the
board such a large spread sounds more than possible. It has come
to the point where some bookmakers don't even advertise the odds
on the Patriots games anymore, but just for the fun of it, at
Bookmaker the New England
Patriots hold money line of -4000, which means that you have to
bet 4,000 to win 100 (not a mistake). On the other side, the
odds on the Eagles to win the game are +2000 - you will get
2,000 for every 100 bet on Philly if they win the Sunday game,
plus a book deal and your own show on ESPN.
But this could hardly happen and with
Patriots star quarterback Tom Brady upgraded to probable, New
England fans are looking forward to another big win. Would the
Patriots cover the -24.5 points spread is another thing,
considering the Pats won against the Dolphins by less and that
the Eagles will do everything possible to keep away from a big
loss. Donovan McNabb has been posted as doubtful for the game
against the Pats and the only hope for Philadelphia is now in
the hands of the defense, which allows 308.6 yards on average,
not too far from New England's 270.6 yards allowed per game. The
Eagles are relatively healthy as far as defense is concerned and
the two wide receivers Jason Avant and Kevin Curtis were
upgraded to probable for the Sunday game. Overall, the Patriots
may have a bit of a hard time putting 25 points on the spread
against the Eagles, but it's not impossible by all means. Keep
in mind that New England is 9-1 against the spread in its last
10 games and Philadelphia is 6-2 ATS in its last 8 games on the
road.
