Lastings Milledge for Brian Schneider and Ryan Church
The New York Mets take Ryan
Church and Brian Schneider from the Nationals in exchange for
Lastings Milledge.
The
New York Mets acquired outfielder Ryan Church and catcher Brian
Schneider from the Washington Nationals in exchange for
outfielder Lastings Milledge, it was reported earlier today.
According to reports, Brian Schneider will become the Mets'
starting catcher, replacing Johnny Estrada, whom the team
recently acquired from the Brewers for reliever Guillermo Mota.
Brian Schneider, 31, batted .235 (96-408) with 33 runs scored,
21 doubles, one triple, six home runs and 54 RBI in 129 contests
for the Nationals in 2007.
Ryan Church, 29, hit .272 (128-470)
with 57 runs scored, 43 doubles, one triple, 15 home runs, 70 RBI in 144 games with the Nationals last year. He finished
eighth in the NL in doubles.
Lastings Milledge, 22, hit .272
(50-184) with 27 runs scored, nine doubles, one triple, seven
home runs and 29 RBI in 59 games last year with New York.
