Todd Turner
resigns from Washington athletics director post
The athletic director of the
University of Washington, Todd Turner, announced resignation on
Tuesday.
Todd
Turner will no longer hold the AD position at the University of
Washington, effective at the end of January 2008. "After
conferring with President Emmert over the last few weeks, it was
determined that a change in leadership in the athletics program
would be in the best interests of the university. It is with
great sadness, but with a sense of pride in what has been
accomplished during my tenure as AD, that I have resigned my
position," was the statement posted by Todd Turner following
the resignation from the athletic director position. While
looking for a replacement, his post will be temporarily filled
by the university's vice president for external affairs Scott
Woodward. University of Washington president Mark Emmert denied
that the resignation was in any way related to football coach
Tyrone Willingham.
