Denver Broncos
vs. San Diego Chargers: Point spread and preview
The point spread, betting line
and preview of the Monday night football game Denver Broncos vs.
San Diego Chargers.
On
Monday the Denver Broncos (6-8) will put an end to the
Week 16 football by visiting the AFC West leader the San
Diego Chargers (9-5). Two month ago these two NFL teams met
and the outcome was devastating for the Broncos, losing 41-3 at
home. The Sunday game will be nothing short of a payback, with
Denver out of the playoff race and the Chargers already secured
the division leadership. Considering the score from their last
meeting, the betting odds on the Monday matchup are quite
generous. The betting website
Bodog Sports has listed the
point spread on the Denver Broncos vs. San Diego Chargers
at -9 points chalk the Chargers with expected total of 47.5
points. The betting line on the Chargers is -400 and the line on
the Broncos is +300 at the e-bookie.
Winning their last two games is a must for
the San Diego Chargers in order to get better seed in the
upcoming playoff games. Sitting on a 4-game winning streak, the
Chargers will get the No.3 spot in the playoffs and avoid the
hot New England until the conference championship game. Big
spreads won't be necessary, but with an easy game against the
Raiders in the final week, San Diego will give 100% towards
winning the game on Monday. Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers
was upgraded to probable for Week 16, but the running game could
suffer with RB Lorenzo Neal out and Michael Turner still
questionable for the Broncos matchup. San Diego linebacker
Shawne Merriman and Luis Castillo were also posted as
questionable for Monday night football. Meanwhile only two
questionable players on the Broncos' side - wide receiver
Brandon Stokley and thigh end Daniel Graham. Denver's defensive
end John Engelberger and wide receiver Javon Walker have both
been upgraded to probable and will be a game-day decision.
The betting trends are also on the
Chargers' side. Denver has lost eight of the last 12 games and
is 1-6 against the spread in its last 7 games on the road. San
Diego has won 5 of its last 5 games at home and is 5-0 against
the spread in its last 6 games at home. The total has gone UNDER
in 15 of San Diego's last 23 games when playing at home against
Denver.
