The Motor City Bowl this year will match up the Central Michigan Chippewas (8-5) and the Purdue Boilermakers (7-5). These two college football teams have already met this season, on September 15th Purdue handed down a 45-22 loss to the Chippewas at home and thanks to this victory Purdue is going to Detroit tonight as a favorite among the odds makers. The online sportsbook Bodog Sports has set the point spread on the Central Michigan vs. Purdue Motor City Bowl game at -8 points chalk Purdue with the total sitting at 71 points. Purdue is also the odds favorite, listed at -310 and the odds on Central Michigan to win the bowl game are posted at +255.

 The big total on the Motor City Bowl is pyre reflection of the offensive strength of each team. Central Michigan will rely on quarterback Dan LeFevour, who threw for 3,360 yards and rushed for 1,008 yards, making him the second player in Division I-A history to pass the 3000-1000 mark, following Vince Young during his college days with Texas. The Central Michigan offense is posting on average 426.5 yards for 33.8 points per game, but lack the defensive backup, allowing 441.2 yards for 35.8 points per game. Similar situation with Purdue, utilizing quarterback Curtis Painter to full potential, Purdue's offense averaged 432.8 yards for 32.9 points per game. The Boilermakers also have troubles matching the defense with the offense, although the difference is not as clear as with the Chippewas. Purdue's defense allowed 396.4 yards for 24.8 points per game this season.

 The Motor City Bowl game will have two very healthy teams. Purdue will play without safeties Brandon Erwin and Torri Williams, while Central Michigan will be without safety Curtis Cutts and D-man DeOnte Durnam. Keep in mind that Central Michigan is 2-2-2 against the spread in its last 6 games, while winning 4 of its last five games. The total has gone OVER in 7 of Central Michigan's last 8 games. Purdue is 3-5-1 against the spread in its last 9 games, but lost 5 of the last 7 games. The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Purdue's last 5 games.
