Holiday Bowl odds
and point spread: Texas vs. Arizona State
The latest betting odds and
point spread on the Holiday Bowl game Texas vs. Arizona State.
Tonight
is the Holiday Bow game between the No.17 Texas Longhorns
(9-3) and the No.12 Arizona State Sun Devils (10-2), a
college bowl game which has climbed to the top spot as the most
bet on event this week, pushing aside the BCS game. Yet another
high-octane offensive matchup and the betting numbers on the
Holiday Bowl are hardly surprising. At the online sportsbook
Bodog Sports, the point
spread on the Texas vs. Arizona State Holiday Bowl game is
currently favoring the Longhorns -2.5 points and the total at 62
points is a good reflection of what's to come tonight at
Qualcomm Stadium in California. The odds on the Texas Longhorns
are posted at -140 and ASU will be underdog with odds +120.
Both college football teams will try to
rely on their powerful offenses, as much as they can,
considering the long list of injuries and suspensions on both
sides. At Texas, the Holiday Bowl will miss running backs Antwan
Cobb and James Henry, wide receiver Limas Sweed, as well as the
safeties Tyrell Gatewood and Drew Kelson with DT Dre Jones. At
Arizona State out for the Holiday Bowl game are running back
Ryan Torain (running backs Keegan Herring and Jarrell Woods are
still listed as questionable), linebacker Morris Wooten is
doubtful and tight end Andrew Pettes with defensive tackle Saia
Falahola remain questionable for the game against ASU.
Considering this, the O on each team could fail to meet the
averages posted during the regular season - Arizona State went
for 420.7 yards for 32.2 points and Texas posted 471.8 yards for
36 points on average per game during the season. Defensively the
Sun Devils are still edging the Longhorns, allowing 341.3
yards and 20.1 points, compared to Texas allowing 390.8 yards
for 26.2 points per game.
Texas won 5 of its last 6 games, but the
Sun Devils could make this game go against the bookies on
Thursday night. Arizona State won 10 of their last 12 games,
although ASU is 1-4 against the spread in its last 5 games. Keep
in mind that the total has gone OVER in 8 of Texas's last 11
games and UNDER in 4 of Arizona State's last 5 games. The
Holiday Bowl game starts at 8:00pm on Thursday from Qualcomm
Stadium in San Diego, CA.
