Odds to win the
2007/2008 Stanley Cup: Redwings and Senators atop
The odds to win the 2007/2008
season Stanley Cup have been published, the Detroit Redwings and
Ottawa Senators favorite.
Months
away from the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs, but the odds makers have
already made up their mind and posted odds on the teams most
likely to win the title in 2008. The most likely Stanley Cup
game by odds appears to be a matchup between the Western Detroit
Redwings and the Eastern Ottawa Senators. At the online
bookmaker
Bodog Sports, the odds on the
Detroit Redwings to win the 2007/2008 Stanley Cup are now
sitting at 7/2, the same betting odds held by the Ottawa
Senators, as well. If those odds prove true reflection of the
playoffs, this would be the first Stanley Cup appearance for the
Detroit Redwings since their victory against the Carolina
Hurricanes in 2002, as well as second consecutive appearance for
the Ottawa Senators.
The Redwings are the undisputed favorite to
win the Western Conference with odds 6/5, completely blowing
away the current Stanley Cup Champion, the Anaheim Ducks, who
are listed with odds on winning the Conference of 5/1 and hold
betting odds of 8/1 to win the Stanley Cup again in 2008. Also
with odds 8/1 on winning the NHL title are the San Jose Sharks,
who are 13/2 to win the Western Conference Championship this
season and are the third team from the Western out of the top
four favorites for the Stanley Cup this year. Following these
four NHL teams come the Calgary Flames, the New Jersey Devils
and the New York Rangers, all with odds of 12/1 to win the
2007/2008 Stanley Cup. With odds 14/1 come the Pittsburgh
Penguins, followed by the Minnesota Wild and Vancouver Canucks
with odds 15/1.
The ultimate underdog for the Stanley Cup
is the Los Angeles Kings posted with odds 200/1 to become the
champion. Big underdogs with odds 100/1 are the Edmonton Oilers
and the Phoenix Coyotes.
