FA Cup: Derby
could deliver against Sheffield Wed.
The odds are against Derby
County in the match against Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup
third round replay, but the Rams could deliver.
After
catching up from a 2-goal deficit for final 2-2 draw in their
first meeting for the FA Cup on January 6th, Derby County could
possibly become one of two Premier League clubs who could fall
to Championship contender in a third round replay, when they
visit Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup replay on Tuesday. Both
the stats and odds are heavily stacked against the Rams, who
have not won a game in their last 17 matches (drawn 4 and lost
13) and are with only one victory (1-0 against Newcastle on
Sept. 17) in their 24 league and cup games this season. At the
U.K. online bookmaker
Bet 365, the odds on Derby
County to win fourth round berth are underdog 2.60, while the
odds on Sheffield Wednesday are sitting at 2.50 with 3.25 for a
draw. Either way you bet you are assured a big payout, that is,
if you get the outcome right, which even the bookmakers had hard
time with.
Sheffield Wednesday aren't doing any
miracles on the field, either, they have won only one of
their last nine league and cup matches and are currently
occupying the 21st spot on the Championship table close to
relegation. Also, the last year's FA Cup exit point for
Sheffield Wed. was in the third round, although against
Manchester City. Sheffield Wednesday have doubts over Francis
Jeffers, Akpo Sodje and Steve Watson for the FA Cup game with
Derby, while Ronnie Wallwork is cup-tied and Frank Simek remains
sidelined. Derby will play without new arrivals Robbie Savage,
Hossam Ghaly, Laurent Robert and Emanuel Villa who are all
cup-tied, and Kenny Miller (groin) remains questionable for the
FA Cup game with Seff Wed.
