NASCAR: Jeff
Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Daytona 500 favorite
A couple of weeks away from
the start of the Daytona 500, Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr.
favorite to win the race.
On
February 17th the NASCAR fans will be able to sit back and enjoy
racing once again, when the drivers face off at the Daytona 500.
The odds makers are also preparing themselves for another
exciting year of NASCAR racing, with odds on the winner of the
Daytona 50 race already posted. At the online sportsbook
Bodog Sports, it's all about
team Hendrick Motorsports. Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr.
are now listed as the favorite drivers to win the race, tied
with odds 9/2 on each. Another Hendrick Motorsports driver,
Jimmie Johnson, comes second with odds 6/1 to win the race, and
only then we find Tony Stewart, who has odds to win the Daytona
500 of 8/1. Kurt Busch and Kevin Harvick are tied with odds 12/1
and Kyle Busch is listed with odds 14/1. Odds to win the 2008
Sprint Cup Championship have also been posted, where the
undisputed favorite is Jimmie Johnson with odds 7/2. Johnson is
followed by Jeff Gordon with odds 4/1 and Dale Earnhardt Jr.
will pay out on 6/1 odds.
A few changes have been made in 2008 to
the NASCAR rules. In all three national series, teams that are
not locked into the starting field will qualify together as a
group at the end of their respective qualifying sessions.
Over-the-wall pit crews in NASCAR's three national series will
be able to hand push their car no more than three pit boxes away
from their assigned pit box -- limiting the crews to the same
three-box length for pushing as the vehicles can drive through
getting onto pit road. And outside tires that have been removed
from a vehicle during a pit stop can no longer be free-rolled
from the outside of the pit box to the wall. The tires must be
hand-directed to the inner half of the pit box before being
released. Visit NASCAR.com for the full list of the 2008
competition changes.
