Spectators caught
betting online at the Diamond Games
Three people were kicked out
of the Diamond Games, after found betting online during the
event.
Organizers at the Proximus Diamond Games, the professional
tennis tournament held in Antwerp, Belgium, removed three
spectators, after security found them placing sports bets online
using laptops.
"Three spectators were removed. The two
Russians and one German were holding a laptop and logged on to a
gambling Web site were gambling on ongoing matches. The WTA
takes a zero tolerance approach to this issue. The men were
asked to leave or hand over their laptops and they decided to
leave with their computers. Unfortunately we do not have any
other powers," read statement by the WTA spokesman.
According to reports, the three bettors took advantage of the
delay between the actual score and the time it took for the
score to appear on the official WTA website.
