Starbucks closing today for training

The Seattle-based coffeehouse will be closed tonight for barista re-training.

Starbucks closing today for training If you enjoy Starbucks coffee as much as we do, tonight you'll have to look for the caffeine refreshment somewhere else. All Starbucks stores nationwide will be closed on Tuesday from 5:30 pm until 9:30 pm (local time) for what the company says is a training event for its workers.

According to Starbucks, the downtime is meant to energize 135,000 employees at the company's 7,100 stores across the country and have them participate in a brief barista re-education with focus on espresso drinks preparation. Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz says it's part of his refocusing on the coffee customer experience.
