NBA: L.A. Lakers
catching up to the Boston Celtics for the Finals
The Los Angeles Lakers odds on
winning the NBA Finals have been shortened, Boston Celtics still
the favorite.
Yet
another victory for the Boston Celtics last night against the
Cleveland Cavaliers 92-87, but this time they paired the win
with LeBron James' milestone - he became the youngest player in
NBA history to reach the 10,000 points, after he re-joined the
team nursing a first-half ankle injury to score 26 points. Ray
Allen netted 22 points and Kevin Garnett scored 18 points with
11 rebounds for the Celtics, who continue to be listed as the
favorite basketball team to win the 2008 NBA Finals.
At the online sportsbook
BodogLife the Boston Celtics
are listed with odds to win the NBA Championship at 2/1, but
competition is coming their way from a surprising place - the
Los Angeles Lakers. A little over a month ago the Lakers were
sitting on 10/1 odds to win the Finals, but today the bookmaker
shortened their odds to 3/1, making the Lakers the second most
likely team to win the NBA Championship. The Los Angeles Lakers
are playing the Miami Heat tonight and the -13.5 point spread
chalk the Lakers speaks volumes on the improvement the NBA team
has seen recently. The third spot on the NBA Finals betting
sheet is shared by the Detroit Pistons, San Antonio Spurs and
the Phoenix Suns, all listed with odds 6/1 to win the 2008 NBA
Finals.
The Los Angeles Lakers are now the
favorite to win the Western Conference, as well, with odds on
going the distance 2/1. The San Antonio Spurs are close behind,
however, paying out on odds 3/1 to win the Conference
Championship, followed by the Phoenix Suns with odds 4/1. At the
Eastern front, the Boston Celtics are still waste of money with
odds to win the Conference at 5/6 (i.e. you have to risk 6 to
win only 5).
BodogLife is offering 15/8 odds
on the Detroit Pistons to win the Eastern Conference and the
Cleveland Cavaliers hold odds of 5/1.
