Friday's Midwest and South Regional Semifinals
The
2008 NCAA College Basketball Tournament has finally reached the
"Sweet 16" and today we will look into the odds and picks the
bookmakers have made for the Friday semifinal games. See the
links below for the preview of the Thursday's semifinal games.
Tomorrow are the South and Midwest semifinal games and the
favorites are already clear. South Regional Semifinals of the
2008 NCAA Tournament will see Stanford vs. Texas and Michigan
State vs. Memphis, favorites are Texas and Memphis, although not
by much. At the online bookmaker
BodogLife, the Longhorns are
currently -2.5 points against the spread for the game against
Stanford and Memphis is -4.5 against the spread when they meet
Michigan State on Friday. The odds on Michigan State to win the
game are underdog +170 and if Memphis wins, the bettors will be
paid on -200. The Memphis Tigers remain one of the favorite
teams to win the 2008 NCAA Tournament, listed with odds 13/2,
while the Texas Longhorns odds to win the Tournament are sitting
at 11/1 at BodogLife.
The Midwest Regional Semifinals will
open on Friday with the game between Davidson and Wisconsin, the
Badgers being the favorite to win the semifinal game with odds
-220, while Davidson is holding odds +180. The point spread on
the Davidson vs. Wisconsin game is sitting at -5 points chalk
the Badgers with the total expected at 126 points. The odds on
Wisconsin to win the 2008 NCAA Tournament are posted at 14/1 and
Davidson remains one of the underdogs with odds 40/1. In the
other Midwest Tournament semifinal Villanova will have a shot at
upsetting Kansas, although the Jayhawks are -12 points against
the spread for the Friday's game. Kansas' guards Mario Chalmers,
Sherron Collins and Rodrick Stewart are all listed as day-to-day
on the injury list, which could result in failure to cover the
spread tomorrow. Still, the Kansas Jayhawks are 7/2 on winning
the NCAA Tournament, while the Villanova Wildcats "enjoy"
the underdog odds 40/1.
