2008 Kentucky
Derby: The winner is Big Brown
The 2008 Kentucky Derby and the contenders reached the
finish and the winner is Big Brown. The favorite from the very
beginning, Big Brown managed to deliver a fantastic 4 3/4-length
victory in the 134th Kentucky Derby, clearly justifying the
confidence trainer Rick Dutrow Jr. had in him before the race.
The winner of the 2008 Kentucky Derby, Big Brown was listed with
odds to win the Run for the Roses at 3/1 at the online bookmaker
BodogSports and 5/2 with the
Churchill Downs odds makers. Big Brown, ridden by Kent
Desormeaux, started from post No.20 and confidently gave the
lead to Bob Black Jack and waited to power up until the final
stretch to take the lead and bring the win home. Once again, the
winner of the 2008 Kentucky Derby is Big Brown.
Unfortunately, while Dutrow and team
were celebrating the Kentucky Derby win, grave news came - the
only filly in the race, Eight Belles, who finished second,
collapsed right after the race and according to the officials at
the track, she broke her two front ankles and was immediately
euthanized. The official Kentucky Derby results are not out yet,
but will be soon. We will post the results as soon as they are
announced.
