Preakness Stakes odds: Bet with or without Big Brown

Preakness Stakes odds: Bet with or without Big Brown The folks at Pimlico are gearing up for the Preakness Stakes and so are the bettors, looking for the best odds available on the Triple Crown race. But following Big Brown's victory in the Derby, the Preakness Stakes odds offer little value to those betting on the favorite. For example, according to the online sportsbook BodogSports, the odds on Big Brown to win the Preakness Stakes 2008 are sitting at 1/4, cut further down from the 3/10 we reported at the beginning of the week. The low payouts of the Preakness Stakes odds are certainly pushing some of the punters away from betting on the second leg of the Triple Crown this year, hence the bookies had to resort to drastic measures - BodogSports is now offering Preakness Stakes odds without the favorite Big Brown! In the past few years, there has always been a sizable competition in all of the Triple Crown races, although the Preakness was getting less attention. But with odds like 1/4 on Big Brown (and we have all seen the 3-year-old race), something had to be done to improve the betting action.

Keep in mind that on the regular betting odds, second favorite is Behindatthebar with the long odds of 10/1. Although this is a big payout if, for some reason Big Brown fails to achieve top spot, bettors remain unconvinced any other contender could win the Preakness Stakes. So the bookmaker posted odds on the Preakness without Big Brown (which means that the position of Big Brown at the end of the race will not be accounted for) and they are bound to attract most of the action this weekend. Behindatthebar is favorite with the sizable payout on 4/1 odds, followed by Gayego at 5/1 and Yankee Bravo at 6/1 (click here to see all odds without Big Brown). A great idea by the odds maker to renew the interest in the Preakness Stakes and to improve the odds this year. We definitely recommend that punters go with the betting odds without Big Brown for the Preakness Stakes 2008.
