Harrah's casinos
will not accept bets on the NBA Finals
With
millions of dollars wagered at the Las Vegas sportsbooks on the
NBA Finals series, this year all Harrah's casinos will turn bets
on the Finals away. According to the latest reports, the
sportsbooks owned by Harrah's entertainment will not accept any
bets on the NBA Finals, since the Celtics qualified for the
match-up. This is because Harrah's Chairman and CEO Gary Loveman
owns 2.4% of the Boston Celtics, which made NBA require all
Harrah's properties to stop accepting bets on the Celtics. Las
Vegas sportsbooks affected are Caesars Palace, Paris Las Vegas,
Bally's, Imperial Palace, Flamingo, Bill's, Harrah's and the Rio
in Las Vegas, accounting to about 1/3 of all sportsbooks on the
Strip. The news, although bad for some bettors in Vegas, was
accepted with great excitement by the online alternative -
Internet bookmakers such as
BodogSports and
Bookmaker.com expect to see an
increase of wagers on the NBA Finals thanks to the Harrah's
restriction.
