Euro 2008:
Bookmakers favour Romania v Holland
The
odds makers at the British bookmaker William Hill are offering
odds of 25/1 that Holland will concede an own-goal to Romania
during their Euro 2008 match on Tuesday night, in which a Dutch
defeat would eliminate both France and Italy from the
tournament. Hills have made the much fancied Dutch 21/10
underdogs against Romania, who are 11/10 favourites to win the
match (the draw is 11/4) despite having drawn both of their
games so far.
"Conspiracy theorists are having a
field day with this game. We have little doubt that the Dutch
will not lose much sleep if they are beaten by Romania on
Tuesday. However, anyone disagreeing and believing that the
Dutch will go into the game with all guns blazing will be
rushing to take the 21/10 about Holland - and the biggest bet so
far struck on the game is a £2300 one for Holland, who are
already substantial losers for us. We will be surprised if we
are paying out on a Dutch victory - or even a draw, given that
should France or Italy get through they would probably bump into
the Dutch again in the semi final," said Hill's spokesman
Graham Sharpe.
Hills offer 8/1 that Romania will
eliminate Holland from the tournament at the semi final stage.
In the other match in the 'Group of Death' Hills make Italy 11/8
favourites to beat France, who are 7/4 shots, with the draw
13/5. Romania are 4/6 with Hills to qualify for the next round,
11/10 not to; while Italy are 12/5 to get through and 3/10 not
to; with France 10/3 to reach the Quarters and 1/5 not to.
