Batman star Christian Bale has been arrested in London, after
allegedly assaulting his mother and sister, the British media
reported today. Christian Bale, who took the role of Batman in
the blockbuster movie The Dark Knight, was arrested and held by
the London police for a few hours, later released. According to
reports from the U.K., Christian Bale was arrested after
allegedly assaulting his 61-year-old mother Jenny and his
40-year-old sister Sharon at London's Dorchester hotel on Sunday
night. According to Scotland Yard, the Batman star surrendered
at a local police station on Tuesday. Rumors in the British
media claim that Christian Bale, who is in London to promote The
Dark Knight, was allowed by the police to appear at the premier
of the movie on Monday in London, as well as to take part in
several press conferences to promote the blockbuster. The Dark
Night took a record $158.3 million in its opening weekend at the
US box office beating Spiderman 3 to the record, which
took $151.1 million.
"Yes I was there and yes there was a
family situation but the police are handling it and I cannot say
anymore at the moment. We didn't call the police to the scene. I
can't say anymore but we didn't call the police," his mother
Jenny Bale was quoted. Sources claim that the alleged assault
stemmed from a long-running family dispute.
