Odds on Sports
Personality of the year to include Olympians
Despite Team GB's two Gold Medals at the Olympics so far,
William Hill still expect F1 driver Lewis Hamilton to emerge as
the winner of the BBC TV Sports Personality of the Year Award.
Online sportsbook William Hills make Hamilton, beaten favourite
last year, 11/8 favourite to make amends by winning this time
round and at the moment all other contenders are quoted at a
minimum of 10/1 - the odds for Gold medal winning swimmer
Rebecca Adlington and potential medal winning athletes, Philips
Idowu and Kelly Sotherton. Hills also offer 12/1 Mark Cavendish;
Victoria Pendleton; Paula Radcliffe; 14/1 Andy Murray; 16/1
Bradley Wiggins; 20/1 Ben Ainslie; Chris Hoy; Rebecca Romero;
25/1 Nicola Cooke; Tom Daley.
Hills now offer 8/13 that an OIympic
Medalist will win the Award and 6/5 that any other sports-person
will do so. 'It will be interesting to see whether Olympic Gold
outranks the World Drivers' Championship or, possibly a Tennis
Grand Slam with the great British public' said Hill's spokesman
Graham Sharpe.
