2008 Ryder Cup Odds: Team USA favorite to win

With the 2008 Ryder Cup underway, there is still plenty of time to check to odds and place a bet on the international golf competition. The current Ryder Cup standings have both teams with 0 points, but this is a few hours away from changing. To make sure we were on the same page, we decided to check the current 2008 Ryder Cup odds at two bookmakers - one targeting primarily UK and European players, the UK-licensed sportsbook Bet 365, and one for the North American market, BodogLife. And as always, the bookmakers exhibit no country-loyalty and both sportsbooks have Team USA as the favorite to win this year's Ryder Cup.

At BodogLife, the odds are favoring Team USA at 20/29, while Team Europe is underdog with odds 27/20, tie paying out on 11/1. On the betting prop which team will win the first full point at the 2008 Ryder Cup, both teams are with -120 odds. Europe, however, is the favorite to lead after the first day of the Ryder Cup at 5/6, while Team USA is holding odds 3/2. The UK bookmaker also favors USA to win the 2008 Ryder Cup outright with odds 4/5, but Europe is not much of an underdog with odds to win sitting at 5/4. Tie also pays out on 11/1.

Updated Ryder Cup standings: Team USA has scored the first point. In Match 2 J. Leonard / H. Mahan won 3 & 2 over H. Stenson / P. Casey.
