Indianapolis Colts
vs. San Diego Chargers: Point spread and odds
We continue our NFL 2009 playoff point spread and odds
preview with the second Saturday wild-card game, Indianapolis
Colts vs. San Diego Chargers, and what a game that would be. It
may be a bit unusual to see the Indianapolis Colts (12-4)
fighting in the wild-card, but the way their season begun, they
should be lucky to have clinched the playoff berth at the end,
thanks to their 9 winning games in a row. The San Diego Chargers
(8-8) meanwhile had a bit of resistance from the Broncos, but
managed to secure the AFC West title and will face the tough
Colts on Saturday night.
Both teams will come well prepared, so
much so, the odds makers at the popular online sportsbook
Bookmaker simply threw their
pencils down in dismay and decided to let the bettors pick the
favorite team. That's correct, the odds on the Colts and the
Chargers are listed as "pick" with the bookie, each team paying
out on -110 odds. The Indianapolis Colts vs. San Diego
Chargers point spread is also "pick", which means that the
team that won the game would automatically cover the spread, as
well; the bookie is expecting a high-score playoff game from the
two NFL franchises, setting the total at 51 points. Bettors need
to know that the trends show Indianapolis is 4-2 against the
spread in its last 6 games, but San Diego is 4-1 against the
spread in its last 5 games when playing the Colts. Also, the
total has gone UNDER in 4 of the Chargers last 6 games at home.
The list of injuries seems to weight in
more against the Colts for their wild card playoff game -
linebacker Gary Brackett, defensive tackle Eric Foster, wide
receiver Pierre Garcon and guard Mike Pollak, along with
cornerbacks Tim Jennings and Keiwan Ratliff, all missed
Wednesday practice. Meanwhile in San Diego only tight end
Antonio Gates, linebacker Brandon Siller and star running back
LaDainian Tomlinson missed practice, but the latter is expected
to be in top shape by the start of the Colts vs. Chargers
playoff wild card game on Saturday.
