PGA Tour: Tiger Woods at TPC Sawgrass for the
Players Championship
The 2007 Players Championship
is on, but many are asking if Tiger Woods would have what it
takes to win.
We
visited
Bodog Sports to see who has the
best betting odds according to the bookmakers. Tiger Woods is
still the favorite to win the Players Championship with odds
5/2. Woods won his one and only Players Championship title
six years ago. Although he did not win the Masters, he won at
Wachovia and he is confident that he will win the Championship.
Following Tiger Woods is Phil Mickelson with odds to win at
12/1.
Some players have complained
in recent weeks that the PGA Tour caters to its two biggest
stars, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson. Complaints sprung from
the fact that Woods will be host of his first PGA Tour event
this summer in Washington, and the field was reduced to 120
players, and Mickelson was excused from playing the pro-am in
Dallas two weeks ago when his plane was grounded in Arkansas.
PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem assured every golfer yesterday
that there is no special treatment for Tiger Woods and Phil
Mickelson, nor for any other players.
Carl Pettersson, Sean O'Hair
and J.J. Henry are considered the underdogs of the Players
Championship with odds to win at 100/1.
TPC Sawgrass is one of the
most famous golf courses in the world, and is also home to the
most famous golf hole in the world - it's 17th hole. According
to statistics, on average players will hit three golf ball into
the water before getting to putting. According to the PGA Master
Professional and TPC National Director of Golf Billy Dettlaff,
over 120,000 golf balls are pulled out of the water each ear
around hole 17.
