Treasure Island Casino green lights an expansion
The Treasure Island Resort and Casino in
Minnesota has announced a $50 million project to expand the
premises.
According to a press release by the casino,
the expansion will add 230 hotel rooms, an event center and a
family fun center. The project is scheduled to begin on June 1st
and is expected to be finished by late 2008.
According to Frank Loth, Treasure Island
Resort & Casino Interim General Manager and Director of Finance,
the new additions to the casino resort would make it better
suited for large conventions and would add a Las-Vegas feel,
focusing more on the entertainment side of the business. With
the new fun center, more families are expected to make Treasure
Island Resort and Casino their new destination of choice for
vacations. Over 50 new employment positions will be opened when
the expansion is complete.
Currently Treasure Island Resort and Casino
features over 2,500 slots, 44 table games, 10-table poker room,
and 550-seat high stakes bingo hall all within seven casinos,
each with a unique Caribbean theme. Currently, guests can relax
in Treasure Island's luxurious 250-room hotel. Additional guest
amenities include a 137-slip marina, 95-site RV-park and a
125-passenger cruise yacht. It is owned by the Prairie Island
Indian Community and is located just south of Hastings, Minn.
