Pittsburgh casino
close to success
The North Shore casino's plan will be approved
by the Pittsburgh's planning director Noor Ismail, as long as
traffic studies are on time.
The
Pittsburgh Steelers went as far as threatening the city with a
lawsuit if extensive study on the game day traffic impact is not
conducted. Later they were joined by the Pirates, and Carnegie
Science Center demanded a pedestrian tunnel as part of
improvements related to construction of the North Shore casino.
Carnegie Science Center announced that they are dropping this
request.
Majestic Star agreed to conducting traffic
studies, as long as they are allowed to continue with building
the casino in the meantime. The casino still needs state Supreme
Court approval of the license awarded him in December, after two
of the losing bidders have appealed the decision to give the
license to the North Shore casino.
Pittsburgh Steelers, on the other side have
hired a consultant, and insist that the game day traffic study
should be a factor in the approval of the master plan for the
casino.
