Miss USA Rachel Smith finishes fifth at the Miss Universe pageant

Upset for the American audience as Rachel-Smith, Miss USA, finished on place five for the prestigious beauty pageant Miss Universe.

Miss USA Rachel Smith finishes fifth at the Miss Universe pageant Miss USA, Rachel Smith, finished a fourth runner-up in the contest last night. A small incident maybe played a role in her placement among the runner-up contenders. Rachel Smith slipped on the stage and fell during the evening gown competition. Miss USA quickly go ton her feet and gave everyone a big smile. The odds to win the 2007 Miss Universe were against Miss USA entering the competition, with some bookmakers offering as high as 100/1 for Rachel to win the beauty contest.

A mean-spirited crowd in Mexico City booed the young beauty after Rachel made it to the top 5 and Miss Mexico did not. Rachel Smith was booed again when it came time to answer questions by the judges in the final round interview. Miss USA, however, kept her composure and paid no attention to the crowd.

2007 Miss Universe was won by Miss Japan, Riyo Mori.

Rachel Smith won the Miss USA in 2007 and has competed in the past for the title Miss Teen USA. She is 22 years old from Clarksville, Tennessee, but was born U.S. Army base in Panama.
