Favorite Frankie Dettori on "Authorized" and best odds
The veteran jockey Frankie Dettori, riding
Authorized, is the favorite to win the Epsom-Derby 2007
tomorrow.
The 4.20 Epsom Downs Derby could cost the
bookmakers over £20 million if the favorite Dettori wins the
race. According to unofficial data, 3/4 of the bettors have
placed wagers on Authorized to win the Epsom. Dettori has
competed 14 times so far in the Epsom Derby without a single
win.
While many bookmakers have the odds on Dettori
to win at 4/5 (1.80), the online bookmaker
Bet365 (opens new window) offers the best
odds at 1.90 (9/10) on Authorized for the Epsom
Derby race. Following the favorite "Authorized" are "Archipenko"
with odds 10.00 (9/1), "Aqaleem" with betting odds of 11.00
(10/1) and "Eagle Mountain" with 12.00 (11/1). Underdog for the
Epsom Derby is "Leander" with betting odds of 501.00!
Authorized is trained by Peter Chapple-Hyam,
had top juvenile form last year and earlier this month the colt
grabbed an impressive victory in York's Dante Stakes,
The Irish trainer Aidan O'Brien has lined up
eight of the 19 expected runners in Saturday's Epsom Derby. He
will saddle Acapulco, Admiralof-thefleet, Anton Chekhov,
Archipenko, Eagle Mountain, Mahler, Soldier Of Fortune and
Yellowstone.
