U.K. court rules
against small casinos
The British High Court ruled
today against in the case brought forth by the small casinos.
Operators of small casinos in the United
Kingdom filled a lawsuit against the building of the 17 casinos
(one super-casino) earlier this year. They claimed that the new
casinos will increase competition to the point where profits
will plunge drastically. Also, the new casinos will be allowed
far more gambling machines than the existing ones.
The High Court ruled today against the small
casino operators on all counts. The government called the
lawsuit "without a merit" and welcomed the decision of Mr.
Justice Langstaff.
